Curriculum: The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The EYFS is made up of 16 parts which are each broken down into 4 Themes, commitments and principles and eventually narrowed down to 6 areas of Learning and development which help to structure the planning for the children based on the observations staff have made on the children.

This is all part of the curriculum that comes within the Every Child Matters Outcomes laid out by the government.

Every Child Matters looks at ensuring 5 Key areas are met for children within a childcare setting, these are:

Being Healthy

Staying Safe

Enjoying and Achieving

Making a positive contribution

Achieving economic well-being
